Methods

The following methodologies are used to measure performance and to identify and act on opportunities for improvement:

  • IMPACT CARE

    IMPACT CARE is a performance measurement tool that helps clinical and non-clinical departments monitor performance. This is a tool that supplements and supports our quality improvement efforts.

  • FADE²

    FADE² is an acronym for the five phases a Quality Improvement team works through to solve problems and improve processes at Shands HealthCare. FADE²stands for: Focus, Analyze, Develop, Execute, and Evaluate.

  • FMEA

    Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a systematic method of identifying and preventing product and process problems before they occur.

Initiatives

  • 5 Million Lives campaign

    The aim of the 5 Million Lives campaign is to support the improvement of medical care in the US in order to reduce harm, such as adverse drug events and surgical complications.
