Shands at UF, Shands Cancer Hospital at UF, etc.) More information about Shands HealthCareThe Shands HealthCare family of hospitals includes two major teaching hospitals, Shands at UF in Gainesville and Shands Jacksonville; two specialty hospitals, Shands Rehab Hospital and Shands Vista behavioral health; a network of outpatient rehabilitation centers; and two home health agencies. Shands is affiliated with more than 80 University of Florida physician outpatient practices located throughout north central and northeast Florida. Shands at UF includes Shands Hospital for Children and Shands Cancer Hospital. We offer two state-designated Level I Trauma Centers and emergency air and ground transport programs that serve adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Shands also owns a minority interest in three rural community hospitals in Lake City, Live Oak and Starke through a joint venture. They are Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center, Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center and Shands Starke Regional Medical Center. The approximately 1,100 UF faculty physicians on the Shands medical staff provide care in about 100 specialty and subspecialty medical areas, from primary care to highly complex care, including cancer, cardiovascular, neurology, neurosurgery, pediatrics and transplantation services. Patients come to Shands from all 67 Florida counties, throughout the nation and more than a dozen countries each year. The multi-disciplinary teams of UF physicians along with Shands’ more than 12,000 employees and 2,000 volunteers contribute to our organization’s excellent reputation for quality care and service. |
